beautiful, beautiful

i had to take a small break from memoryvilla retreat projects today for just a moment. i have had this song in my head for days now and i wanted to incorporate it into my art journal. this is part of my fearfully and wonderfully made project, which i still want to talk about some more. i know some of you will remember me starting it way back when, before i did all this blog switching around.

the song is by francesca battistelli and it is called beautiful, beautiful. it is such a, well...beautiful song. i love all of the lyrics, but didn't want to put them all on my art page. so i just chose these:

and the entire page:

working on this was a little bit out of my comfort zone. i have had a desire to just play with different art products and see what happens. i am really happy with the way this turned out for my journal. it isn't what i had in my head, but as i started working i just went with the flow. it was really fun and i feel super creative now. meaning, i have tons of other ideas flowing out of my head. i guess some times it is good to get out of your comfort zone and just play.

of course, i can't post this without also posting the lyrics and the youtube of it. :)

beautiful, beautiful
don't know how it is You looked at me
and saw the person that i could be
awakening my heart
breaking through the dark
suddenly Your grace

like sunlight burning at midnight
making my life something so beautiful, beautiful
mercy reaching to save me
all that i need
you are so beautiful, beautiful

now there's a joy inside i can't contain
but even perfect days can end in rain
and though it's pouring down
i see You through the clouds
shining on my face

i have come undone
but i have just begun
changing by Your grace

hi :)

it is a dreary, gloomy day here today. cold and rainy and the possibility of snow. ugh!

however, i am a happy girl because i've rearranged my art room and i'm in LOVE with it. i will share photos soon. i'm happily in my comfy clothes making things for the retreat coming up. click here for more info if you are interested!

i can't share too much because it is all surprises, but here is a portion of a photo of something i've been working on today...

what have YOU been creating lately? i'd love to see. :)

have a wonderful saturday!

retreat time is getting closer

i have been a busy bee working on retreat stuff. whew! i am about 60% finished with all of my tasks. i was hoping to have it all finished before i leave for mexico with my husband in a few weeks. we will see if that happens!

i can't share a lot, but here are a few sneaks:

i can't tell you what any of that is, obviously. :)

for those who aren't aware, the workers at the retreat are the "MVPs" , or Memory Villa Princesses. we call our croppers our queens and we go out of our way to pamper the ladies all weekend long to make them feel like queen for a weekend!

also, i plan on bringing back the "fearfully and wonderfully made project". i've been working on some new stuff for my art journal after leaving it sitting on a shelf for almost a year now. i'm excited to get back to it.

sweet, sweet baby

i got to take this girl's five month photos today. this is the little girl that my friend had asked if i would take photos of every month because she does a collage on her wall. isn't she getting so big?

oh, i love taking photos of babies! they are so much fun. today i'm going to take my girl out and get some seven year old photos of her. it's been a long time since i've taken her out for a photo shoot. the weather is beautiful, so i hope the sun cooperates with what i'm wanting to do with her.

s, i hope you like these for this month!

and she's seven

my sweetie's birthday was today and we had her party this afternoon. i can't believe she's seven! here are some of the decorations i put up in the house today:

some easy, quick pompom flowers from tissue paper. i used this tutorial. these were really fun! i want to make some to hang from the ceiling in my daughters room now. tissue paper is really inexpensive too. ;)

thank you gifts for the kids. little $1 coloring books from michaels that i wrapped in comic paper and tied with a ribbon. blue for boys and pink for girls of course!

and a little garland out of cupcake holders. i just strung them on a ribbon with a needle. very quick and easy. i got the idea from here. i also made another garland out of these to hang from the mantle.

and some crepe paper streamers from a light fixture with some more cupcake streamers. for this one, i just tied a knot in the ribbon on the bottom. easy!

and the birthday girl! happy birthday princess! i love you!!

ahhh, spring time!

the weather is going to be beautiful here again today. right now i can hear the birds chirping outside. :)

i love spring!

i have tons of new projects to share in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

here is a quick little kid's craft for today:

supplies needed: two clothespins, scrap paper, scissors, paper punches, buttons, crayons, etc.

for the frog, i punched a large circle for the body and two smaller circles for the eyes. i cut a smaller semi-circle out of different paper for the mouth. attach two buttons to the smaller circles for eyes. glue all together to make a frog (you could easily make other animals!). glue the pieces to the two clothespins. the clothespins hold the notes! i like putting goofy notes in my daughter's bathroom from time to time. they make her laugh!
